BIOGRAPHY

After almost 30 years in the art world, I began painting about three years ago again, in addition to brokering and consulting. I am greatly influenced and inspired by the works of the Fort Worth Circle. Marjorie Johnson Lee, perhaps, my greatest inspiration was also my friend. This is equally true for Cynthia Brants. I had the pleasure of meeting, interviewing and spending time with those members of the FW School, who were still alive while working with David Dike in the mid 1990's. Marjorie J. Lee studied in NY under some of the great Modernists of the 1940's. She taught me so much. Additionally, Coreen Mary Spellman’s modernist works, another, Texas painter, who died in1978 definitely inspired me as well. I was also fortunate to have studied Art History, specifically, Modernism, under the renowned Professor Richard Shiff, and Leo Chesney while obtaining my BA in Fine Arts at the University of Texas of Austin.

These are just two of the many great teachers I learned so much about both Art and Art History. By combining elements of their works in concert with the many techniques I learned in art classes at University of Texas at Austin under the great art professors there in the late 1980’s, as my degree is a B.A.Fine Arts, I feel I have created a unique approach to my own version of mid century modernism to abstract expressionism through the use of acrylics, oils and latex on various mediums such as tempered glass, parchment paper, wood and canvas.

I would like to attribute much of many early art learning skills from the advanced art classes at Fort Worth Country Day School. The classes were instrumental in building a foundation for both my knowledge of art and art history. These were taught by the great Evelyn Siegel and Lee Koeppe. Both of these Instructors were amazing artists themselves and were ahead of their time, in conceptual and critical thinking and strategic artistic projects for high school students, yet were also our good friends. Every Siegel went on to open the renowned Evelyn Siegel Gallery in Fort Worth and will always be known as a premier art dealer both in Fort Worth and Aspen, as well as nationally. I am proud to have sold my first piece at auction on January 21, 2016, at David Dike Fine Art’s 26th Annual Premier Texas Art Auction and have had several sold each year since.
